A Permanent Account Number or PAN card is required to file your income tax returns and it is an ID proof to remit any amount of money without any limitations. So, you can’t afford to provide the wrong details to the authorities through your PAN card. It is very easy to fill the PAN card correction form online and offline.

How To Get PAN Card Details Corrected?

Here are the steps you should follow for PAN Card correction online –

  • Visit the official UTIITSL or NSDL portal
  • Fill the NSDL PAN Correction form online
  • Enter your correct PAN number as your change request can be delayed by entering the wrong PAN number
  • Select the parameters you want to change by hitting the checkbox next to them. For example, if you want to change the spelling of your name, check the box next to it. If you miss this step, no change will be made
  • Crosscheck all the details before submitting the form
  • You will get a 15-digit acknowledgment to track your application status after verifying the changes
  • Pay the fees and print the acknowledgment. Attach the documents required and send to the following address –

  • You can also send the documents to any UTIITSL office located in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, or New Delhi if you are going to submit the same through the official UTIITSL portal.

Note – You don’t have to dispatch the documents anywhere if you have already uploaded or signed the documents digitally.

What Kind of Things You Should Consider While Submitting PAN Correction Form?

You should consider the following pointers when it comes to submitting:

  • Don’t add abbreviations in your last and first name
  • Write the full name of partnership firm or company as it is. Company name shouldn’t have any abbreviations either. For example, if company name is “ABC Computech Private Limited” fill “ABC Computech Private Limited” in the space for surname/last name. If first row is filled, you can keep writing the company name in the next row. Make sure the company name has no abbreviations
  • If PAN card has blurred or wrong signature or photograph, original PAN card is required to submit with acknowledgement

How To Change Name On Pan Card After Marriage?

  • Log on to the UTI portal
  • Click “For Change/Correction in PAN Card, click here” on the left panel
  • Click “Apply for Correction/Change in PAN Card details”
  • It will redirect you to the page to enter details that should be changed
  • Upload the required documents and click “Submit”
  • You will get the changes within few days

How To Correct PAN Card Offline?

You can also change your PAN card details offline by downloading and printing

  • Fill the form and submit to the UTIITSL or NSDL center near you

What Are The Charges And Processing Fees Required For Correction In PAN Card?

For PAN card correction, you have to pay Rs. 85+taxes, i.e. Rs. 96 by cheque, demand draft, or MasterCard or credit card. For payment by DD, write your acknowledgment number and name on the back and make it payable at Mumbai.

How to check status of PAN card correction?

You need acknowledgement number to check the status of Correction in PAN Card. Once you submit the form, you will get acknowledgement number. You just have to click “Track PAN Card” link on the website. If you visit NSDL website, enter the acknowledgement number. For UTIITSL, enter application coupon number. In addition, you have to enter PAN number and other information. Click “Submit” and you can check your status.

When Do You Require To Change Your Name In PAN Card?

How To Change Address In PAN Card?

Your PAN card has nothing to do with your address but it is still required when it comes to send the original PAN card to your address. You have to mention the address in the application form. You can fill the form 49A offline to change address in PAN. However, you cannot change the address again for offline application forms authenticated with OTP of your Aadhar card. The Aadhar in UIDAI database is considered as default. You will need to go through the following steps to change your address, even after submitting the form online –

  • Update your Aadhar address 
  • Fill up the form 49A and submit it again

How To Change Date of Birth In PAN Card?

The procedure for DOB change in PAN card is very straightforward both online and offline. We will explain both procedures here –

Online Procedure:

  • Visit the official NSDL website and click on the link “Online Application  for Changes/Correction to PAN data”
  • You need to choose “Applicant’s Category” – individual or HUF
  • Fill in the required details marked by “*”
  • Upload the photos and required documents and hit “Submit” 
  • You can pay by Debit Card/Credit Card and DD. 
  • Note down the acknowledgment number to track the status of your PAN change application. 
  • Print out the form after finishing the procedure for DOB correction and post it to the given address on the portal with affixed photo and documents required.

Offline Procedure:

  • Visit the official National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) portal. 
  • Click on the link “Changes/Correction to PAN” under “Application Type”
  • Enter the details and verify the Captcha. Click “Submit” to proceed. 
  • Select the mode of verification for ID and Address proof.
    • Aadhar eKYC – All the details mentioned on your Aadhar will be synced with PAN details and delivered to your postal address as given in the Aadhar database.
    • Aadhar eSign – Upload the documents required and scanned photo. You don’t have to courier the PAN application and documents to NSDL office.
    • Physical Acknowledgment – You need to dispatch the printed application to NSDL office with your documents and photo.

After updating your PAN card, it will be sent to the address which is given to the Aadhar database.

  • Fill in the details required on the next screen. 
  • All the details you enter should be correct before making payment. 
  • You will get an acknowledgment number after making payment. Authorized person’s signature is needed in case of HUF or company. Write “Application for PAN Card Change request” on top of the envelope to send your documents and application.

How To Change Signature In PAN Card?

You need to follow these steps to change PAN card signature –

Fill The Form

  • Visit the official NSDL portal 
  • Go to Application type and Select “Changes/Correction in PAN Data” 
  • Enter the required details and click “Submit”

KYC

  • You have to mention how you are going to submit KYC documents.

Signature change

  • Select the option “Signature Mismatch” 
  • Provide your parents’ details. 
  • Provide address. 
  • Select “YES” to submit the documents and form digitally. 
  • Upload the signature and documents. 
  • Submit application.

Payment

  • You can pay via net banking, debit card, or credit card 
  • Here are the charges –
    • For address within India – Rs. 101
    • For address outside India – Rs. 1011 
    • Net banking charge is Rs. 4 extra 
  • You will get the acknowledgment number after successful payment.
