What is EPF Claim status?

Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a fund intended to help employees after retirement. EPF is built with the contribution of both employer and employee. Withdrawal from EPF account is not allowed before maturity. Though the government provides the options to withdraw a sum of partial money from the EPF account under certain circumstances & restrictions.

Under any circumstances, if you request for partial or full withdrawal from the EPF account, there is a provision to check the EPF claim status online through Universal Account Number (UAN). Therefore you must activate the UAN number before checking the EPFO claim status.  

EPFO online claim status helps you to identify the stage at which your withdrawal application is at present. It provides a complete & transparent idea about the online PF claim status. Also, you get time to check for the errors or delays in the process and be able to rectify them in advance.

How to Check EPFO Claim Status Through Portal ?

To withdraw a partial or complete amount from your PF account you need to raise a request for withdrawal through the EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization). The EPFO is a statutory government body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment which is entitled to work for the benefit of working employees. Once you raise a request to withdraw the amount from your EPF account, you might not view the status instantly. To simplify this process, EPFO has introduced an online service for EPFO claim status check. To check PF claim status you must have the following information handy with you:

How to Check EPFO Claim Status Online?

Step 1: Go to the official government EPFO online portal. Click on ‘Our services’ tab & select ‘For Employees’ from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Click on ‘Know Your PF Status’

Step 3: Enter your UAN number and enter the captcha(as shown in the image) in the box carefully

Step 4: Now in the following screens enter the below details

    • Select your PF Office from the drop-down menu
    • Enter your establishment code
    • Enter your Provident Fund account number

Step 5: To proceed, click on the ‘Submit’ button to know your pf claim status. If your mobile number is registered you will receive an alert message via SMS in the below conditions:

    • On receipt of claim application.
    • On transfer of funds to your bank account.

How You Can Check Claim Status Via UAN Member Portal ?

This is one of the easiest methods to track EPFO claim status online. To check through UAN member portal follow the steps below.

Step 1: Visit the UAN portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2: Now, enter your UAN number, password and captcha as requested on the screen. After entering all the details click on the ‘Sign in’ button to proceed.

Step 3: Once you successfully sign in you will be redirected to your UAN member profile. On the following page, click on the ‘Online Services’ option’s from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: From the displayed options, Select ‘Track Claim Status’.

Step 5: You will be redirected to the next page displaying all the details about the status of your EPF claim. By scrolling down you can also check the ‘Transfer Claim Status’.

How to Check Claim Status of EPFO Through Umang App?

You can also check your claim status of EPFO through Umang app. Follow the steps below to track PF claim status:

Step 1: First you need to download the Umang app if you do not have it yet. In the app search for ‘EPFO’ and click on it.

Step 2: In the next screen, choose ‘Employee Centric Services’ from the options available.

Step 3: Now, select the ‘Track Claim’ option.

Step 4: In the next step enter your UAN to login and click on ‘Get OTP’.

Step 5: You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number with EPFO. Enter the received OTP and click on the ‘Login’ to proceed.

Step 6: In the next page, complete details of your claim is displayed on that particular UAN from tracking ID to date, claim status, etc.

How to Check PF Claim Status Through Missed Call?

Apart from the above said online method for EPF claim status check, you can also check your EPF claim status through offline modes like a call.

The toll free EPF claim status contact number is 011-22901406. You need to call on this number from your registered phone number. Once you call on this number you will receive the status of your EPF claim via SMS. 

What Details You Should Have to Avail This Facility?

  • Registered Mobile Number with UAN at Unified Portal.
  • KYC must be done against the UAN from the following list
  • Bank A/c Number.
  • Aadhaar Card
  • PAN Card Number

How to Check PF Claim Status Through Missed SMS?

There is a provision to know your EPF claim status by sending an SMS from your registered mobile number to 7738299899. EPFO will send back the last PF contribution & balance details on the same registered mobile number.

You need to send the SMS in the below format 

‘EPFOHO UAN LAN’. 

In this format, the ‘LAN’ stands for the language code in which you want to receive the details.
